Modern artists’ artworks have a simplicity to provide exceptional stimulation to the mind, rejecting the sole basis of traditional aesthetic values and perfection. To experience this similar sensibility, Sotheby’s presents a modern-day exhibition till June 25, 2024, and an auction of similar artworks on the next day at 34-35 New Bond Street, London, UK, from 11:00 BST.
Having a wide range of artworks spanning movements, including Impressionism, Post-Impressionism, Surrealism, and Modernism, this auction will reveal compositions from the finest artists, thereby revealing the multifaceted creative spirit. Some of the key artists whose works are on display include Impressionist artists like Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Camille Pissarro, and Alfred Sisley, and Modern artists like Pablo Picasso, Marianne von Werefkin, Tamara de Lempicka, and Françoise Gilot amongst others.
From the Impressionist collection, some of the finest artworks displayed are Alfred Sisley’s Moret-sur-Loing, les moulins, effet de neige, Pierre-Auguste Renoir’s Femme dans un paysage, Cagnes, and Pierre Bonnard’s Maison du Clos, au Grand-Lemps. Whereas, from the Modernist collection, the exhibition presents Irma Stern’s Still Life with Watermelons, Françoise Gilot’s Tulipes Perroquet, and Marianne von Werefkin’s Die Erwartung (The Expectation). Lastly, there are paintings of Kees Van Dongen on the behalf of State of the Netherlands. The entire auction catalog is present on Sotheby’s website and can be accessed by anyone.
The Sotheby’s auction is indeed the best one till the onset of 2024 and can’t be missed when it comes to buying exceptional artworks from recognized artists.
